CaratIQ is a relatively new player in the jewelry point of sale (POS) arena.
On paper, the feature list is broad. They promise POS, CRM, marketing, e-commerce, and more in one system, and their positioning targets jewelry stores.
But when you dig into the details, two things stand out: The pricing structure charges per user and caps your inventory, and there are no independent reviews on third-party platforms yet.
These might not seem like a big deal, but they matter more than you think.
Let’s see why CaratIQ is a solid option, and how it stacks up against Jewel360, so you can choose the best jewelry POS system for your store.
What CaratIQ Offers
CaratIQ is aiming for an all-in-one approach. POS, CRM, marketing tools (SMS, email, calling), e-commerce, appointment booking, task management, and repair tracking, all in one platform.
They integrate with Stuller, Geller's Blue Book, Gemology Institute of America (GIA), and BriteCo.
The pitch is, “We do everything.” If you want POS, marketing automation, and appointment scheduling without using separate tools, CaratIQ bundles those functions together.
They also offer integrations with Mailchimp, Klaviyo, and Podium for marketing, plus Affirm and Klarna for customer financing.
It’s an appealing concept, but it comes with expensive caveats.
Where To Look Carefully
Let’s get into those expensive caveats.
Per-User Pricing Adds Up Fast
CaratIQ's Basic plan starts at $300/month for three users and 20,000 inventory items. The Professional plan runs $550/month for five users and 50,000 items. The Premium hits $800/month for seven users and 100,000 items.
If you run a small jewelry store, you might have between three and eight employees. Let’s say you have six staff members. You’ll pay $550/month before any add-ons. One more hire pushes you to $650/month.
Usage Caps Create Surprise Costs
SMS credits are capped at 250 on the Basic plan, 750 on Professional, and 2,500 on Premium. Email credits are 1,000, 5,000, and 25,000. Call minutes are 250, 1,000, and 3,000. Storage is capped at 5GB, 25GB, and 100GB, respectively.
You might look at those numbers and either feel confused or unfazed, but you’ll hit those limits pretty quickly if you use CaratIQ’s marketing tools.
You’ll be sending birthday texts, follow-up emails, repair check-ins, and promotional campaigns, and every time you go over your usage limits, you’ll incur added costs.
$0.02 per SMS, $0.01 per email, and $0.05 per call minute might not look like much, but they accumulate when marketing is a regular part of your operations.
There Are No Third-Party Reviews Yet
As of March 2026, CaratIQ doesn't have a presence on Capterra, G2, Trustpilot, or Google Reviews.
They do feature verified testimonials from real jewelry businesses on their website — including HD Bean Jewelers, Marisa Perry, Deep River Jewelry, West End Jewelers, Primo Gold Jewelry, Asteri Diamonds, and others.
These are real stores with real owners, and that's worth something.
That said, there's a difference between testimonials a company selects and independent reviews where any customer can share their experience.
When you're choosing the POS system that runs your jewelry business, being able to read unfiltered feedback from other jewelers matters.
Verified reviews on third-party platforms let you see the complaints alongside the praise.
There’s No Built-In Appraisal Creation or Trade Management
CaratIQ integrates with BriteCo for insurance appraisals and can store documents in customer profiles, but it doesn't include a native tool for creating appraisals.
If you generate your own appraisal documents, you'll need a separate process.
Likewise, trade-in capabilities for estate jewelry, scrap gold, and customer buybacks aren't part of the platform.
If buying and trading pieces is part of your daily operations, that's a workflow gap.
What To Prioritize in a Jewelry POS Provider
If you're comparing CaratIQ against other options, here's what the pricing and feature comparison should focus on:
- Unlimited users and products: If you’re trying to grow, per-user pricing penalizes you. A system with flat pricing regardless of team size lets you hire without recalculating your software budget.
- Built-in appraisal tools: If appraisals are part of your business, native document creation with GIA certificate retrieval saves you from managing a separate system.
- Trade-in and consignment workflows: These are part of your daily operations for many jewelers. You don’t want to handle them manually. Make sure they’re built into your POS.
- Verified, independent reviews: Look for feedback on Capterra, G2, or Google Reviews, where any customer can post. Website testimonials are a start, but independent platforms give you the full picture.
- Transparent pricing without caps: There shouldn’t be SMS limits, inventory caps, or per-user fees. Know what you're paying before you sign up, and know it won't change as your business grows.
- Jewelers Mutual integration: If you offer care plans and insurance to your customers, having that integration built into every plan saves a separate vendor relationship.
Searching for jewelry POS systems shouldn’t be difficult, but you might be bamboozled with features and miss what you actually need.
How Jewel360 Stacks Up
Of course, we’re a little biased — we’re not ashamed to admit that — because we want to help jewelers run their businesses. Here’s what we offer:
-
Start at $199/month with unlimited users and unlimited products on every plan. No per-user fees, inventory caps, or storage limits.
-
Track serialized inventory with GIA certificate integration, stone management, and bin location tracking. Generate professional appraisal documents natively — don’t just store them.
-
Manage repairs and custom orders with job templates, automated notifications, image documentation, and remote access from any device.
-
Handle trade-ins and consignment with current precious metal pricing, estate jewelry tracking, and consignment management built into the inventory system.
-
Connect directly with Stuller, Geller's Blue Book, Jewelers Mutual, Clientbook, QuickBooks, Affirm, Avalara, and Shopify. Jewelers Mutual Care Plan is included on all plans.
…and more.
Don’t take our word for it. Read verified reviews from jewelry store owners on both Capterra and Google. These are real stores and feedback, all independently verified.
Last, we don’t do long-term contracts. You can pay monthly and cancel at any time. Use our Build and Price tool to get a custom quote.
Other Alternatives Worth Considering
Jewel360 isn't the only alternative to CaratIQ. Here are a few other systems that serve the jewelry space.
The Edge is the legacy on-premise standard. They’ve been in jewelry retail since 2004 and offer excellent inventory management and reporting.
There’s no cloud access, but it has a long track record and a large installed base. If you want proven local software and don't need remote management, The Edge is reliable. See our full comparison.
Pavilion targets jewelers running both retail and wholesale operations with enterprise-level CRM and B2B workflows.
If you manage complex sales pipelines across multiple locations, Pavilion is a solid choice. Pricing starts at $299/month and scales to $999/month. See our full comparison.
Lightspeed is a general retail POS with strong omnichannel selling and a Stuller integration through NuORDER. It’s not jewelry-specific, but if marketplace selling and supplier catalogs are priorities, it's worth a look.
Warning: There’s a processing penalty of $400/month if you use your own processor. See our full comparison.
CaratIQ Alternatives: There Are Better Options
CaratIQ and Jewel360 offer similar things. Both are cloud-based, handle serialized inventory and repairs, and integrate with Stuller and Geller's Blue Book.
But there are subtle yet real differences — namely, cost and customer reviews.
CaratIQ charges per user, caps your inventory, limits your marketing credits, and doesn't yet have independent reviews on third-party platforms.
Jewel360 includes unlimited users and products on all plans, offers built-in appraisals and trade-in management, and has verified reviews from real jewelers on third-party platforms.
